Wordswork Communications is a full-service freelance writing and editing business that specializes in the agri-food sector.

I'm Lois Harris - the business owner and principal writer, in charge of operations, marketing, scheduling and office cleaning (only mine though, and sporadically). I've been writing and editing for a startling 25+ years.

My mission is pretty straightforward: helping busy people in the agri-food industry tell their stories.

These days, consumers want to know not only what's in their food, but how it was made, who made it and the integrity of the producer or manufacturer.

It's also crucial for businesses to have a strong online and social media presence with clearly written, engaging content.

If you need compelling, authentic stories that inform, entertain and enlighten, why not contact me?

I've been in agri-food communications for more than 25 years - first as a senior advisor in the Ontario government and then with my own business.  My specialty is in explaining complex concepts with clear, engaging copy. See examples of my latest work below.

I wrote all the copy for this promotional magazine. It provides useful management, marketing and other tips for food processors.

Case study

I wrote this case study about two sisters - Victoria and Paula Watts, who built their own Italian pasta and sauce business from the ground up.

I wrote the script for this video that kicked off a brand relaunch done by the blondes for this group of seniors' centres in Oshawa.

I wrote all the copy for this website that was part of a brand refresh that the blondes did for PWI Insurance.

John Greig, Editor, Farmtario

I had the opportunity to work with Lois Harris during the past year. Lois prepared a communications plan and executed it perfectly. She was very professional and added great value to the Thames River Phosphorus Reduction Collaborative. Lois will be part of all my future projects.

Charles Lalonde, Owner, CJ Agren Consulting

Lois helped my team communicate our services and value proposition to the outside world. During this process, she created pages and pages of copy that have always been delivered on time and on budget. Moreover, Lois has taken great pains to follow our brand guidelines and style guide so that all of our outward facing copy meshes together seamlessly! I highly recommend Lois as a freelance writer.
